Job Title: Research Assistant
Department: Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT)
Reporting to: Research Fellow; Research Manager CIPIT
Basic job summary:
The Research Assistant position supports Research Fellows and Junior Research Fellows by assisting with data collection, record-keeping, conducting literature and technical research, drafting manuscripts, analyzing data, and preparing reports. The role also involves representing CIPIT at webinars, roundtable discussions, workshops, and conferences (both virtual and in-person), ensuring alignment with University strategies, policies, procedures, and funder requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Support data collection through interviews with relevant stakeholders and secondary research via desktop analysis.

Assist in academic research, manuscript editing, and preparation, as well as contributing to the production of project reports.

Conduct research across various methods, including archival work, interviews, and online research, as needed to support the supervisor.

Regularly meet with the supervisor to discuss progress on research tasks and assignments.

Assist in organizing project-related events, such as workshops, report launches, publications, and the communication of research findings.

Contribute regularly to the CIPIT Blog by sharing relevant insights and research updates.

Represent CIPIT at relevant events, both virtual and in-person.

Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Academic Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Computer Science, or a related Social Science field.

Completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in Law is a plus.

Relevant coursework or certifications in Intellectual Property (IP) law or Artificial Intelligence (AI) are highly valued.
Experience:

1-3 years of relevant experience in research with a focus in Intellectual Property law, policies or artificial intelligence issues.
