The AfCFTA Protocol on Digital Trade (“AfCFTA Digital Protocol”) was adopted at the 37th African Union Heads of States Summit held on 17 – 18 February 2024. It involves important areas such as data governance, data protection, cross-border data flows, online consumer protection, cybersecurity and emerging technologies such as AI. This Webinar will highlight certain aspects of the protocol and the possible impact that it will have on the data governance and AI landscape in Africa and if it indeed creates an equitable playing field for Africans engaging in digital trade.
