The Data Protection Act came into force in 2019 changing how data is handled and perceived in Kenya. The Data Protection Guide for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Kenya is a pamphlet aimed at assisting Kenyan SMEs to understand their obligations under it; highlighting the key provisions of the Act that every SME must consider in ensuring the protection of personal data that is in their possession. The pamphlet further highlights particular provisions they ought to keep in mind and ways the Act will have an impact on their day to day operations.
