(57)    Abstract

The invention relates to biosensors. More particularly, the invention relates to a working electrode for use in a voltammetric analyzer. The electrode has a electrode surface modified by any one or more surface modifiers selected from phthalocyanine metal complexes, laccase enzymes, or microbial cells. The phthalocyanine (Pc) metal complex includes copper, zinc, and a tetrasulphonated phthalocyanine (TSPc) complex of copper. The microbial cells may be Moraxella, preferably Moraxella 1A, or Pseudomonas putida. In one embodiment, the microbial cells are Pseudomonas putida JS444.
